About
I have been teaching since 2003. I have taught in primary, secondary, mainstream and SEND. I am now a full-time tutor working 1-1 with children aged 4 to 18. The image above is an imaginary depiction of Mars. Many years ago, Buzz Aldrin left a note at my primary school and it read 'Reach for the Stars'. It was displayed outside the Headmaster's office. It inspired me then. It inspires me now. My work is supporting children to reach those stars through outstanding tuition.
So, A Bit About Me
Welcome to Garnett Tuition!
My passions are pedagogy, curricula and SEND. My work is the teaching of children in 1-1 tutoring sessions. I teach English, Mathematics, the 11+ and Functional Skills from EYFS to GCSE. My own children are autistic and one also has ADHD, which means my working day is built around their transitions into and out of school. Whatever a child's starting-point, all can achieve, once a relationship is established and motivators are identified. These may be the joy of learning something new or ten minutes with a VR headset. Each child is different and I have seen so many children flourish when they come to know themselves and turn their unique characteristics into superpowers. If you would like academic 1-1 support for any child, whether you are a school, a local authority or a parent, whatever the child's age or present levels, whatever their SEND or not, then do make contact below and let us start a conversation. My work takes place in various locations, such as homes, libraries, schools and cafés. I will work with you to deliver what you need. Each child is unique and each, with the right support, can learn and develop in awesome (and inspiring) ways. Every child can achieve their dreams and reach those stars.
